The stories behind the prints

27 February 2025 — A Mix of Water

Last month saw the first Print of the Month fly out into the world with great success, and this time it's time to spice things up with one of my personal favourite photoshoots, hanging out of an open airplane window, flying low over this very special river delta of mixed emotions and colours
Knowing these rivers braid by braid from countless nights spent on Google Maps over the years, we set out on a mission to not just see it with a drone, but to capture it from above with our own eyes.
We crossed over the highlands, trying to not get tempted to just circle around the usual classics and burn our fuel before reaching our goal. And it was worth it.
The abstraction of this place is almost impossible to comprehend in photos, but almost just as hard to grasp seeing it in real life. A bunch of drunk rivers fighting their way towards the ocean, looking for equilibrium but only getting systematically lost. And they go on for what seems like forever.
28 March 2025 — Hot Paint

This month I was out shooting a bunch of our local mud. Hot mud. In different colours. Also called the hot paint of nature. I was up with drones and down on my knees with telephoto lenses, all to capture what nature has already painted for us. I printed this one large for my own living room. And now so can you.
1 May 2025 — Full Brightness

Sometimes I should add some more colour to my photography. Sometimes people ask me to. This time, I wanted to see if it would actually work and if people would like it. I try to stay away from sunrises and sunsets. In favour of the dark storms and extreme weathers that I think brings more emption out of these landscapes. But maybe it’s because I’m becoming a dad, my photography is turning into dad photography too.
I even almost brought out the tripod for this one. But I didn’t.
I was busy showing settings for my photo group on this 12-day tour across the highlands to focus on my own shots. So I quickly shot this one from the hip. We had been shooting the sunset until 1 am, and since sunrise was only two hours later, I drove them out here to fight our way through that too. It was romantic. Hands were almost held. Tears were almost shed. The night was almost remembered. But at least there’s this photo to remind us for when it is forgotten.
1 July 2025 — Hot Hot Cold Cold

Ok it’s not fully Ice and Fire because that blue one is a river, but I swear I saw the glacial water in that river melt from the icecap just a few moments before it ran down to where I took this photo. So it’s as close to Ice as we can get. And the lava being hotter than just fire compensates on the fire side.
Shot just a few days apart, rushing from one of our Reykjanes eruptions straight into the highlands to cool my melting drone down, these two were always meant to hang hand in hand. You could just get one, but most hands are happier with a companion hand. And this combo is the Icelandest of Icelands.
