It's been a year again.
The darkest winter is here as a form of social and psychological semi-hibernation. Some say it’s horrible and move away, but if embraced, it holds immense power. The people turn inwards, strengthen close connections, and recharge for when the light returns. And as it hopefully once will, this whole island explodes on a newfound wave of energy in a way that can only be harnessed by having been missed. But while we're still in the darkest dark, here are a few of last year's highlights.
After first moving to Iceland 10 years ago, this was the year that life 2.0 started. For the first time, my firstborn child was born first, and even before that, we moved into a house as far away from the rest of the world as possible in a small town of just a thousand people. I tried to shoot more locally, became more selective in my work, and in all that, I rediscovered my passion for photographing my own backyard. Which looks like this.

And it even looks good in the summertime.

Still, I left every now and then. Once to shoot a project for the new Toyota Land Cruiser 250 in a garage.

And I left another time for a shoot with the Hyundai Ionic 5

One of my biggest dreams I didn't even know I had came true, as my footage from the recent Icelandic volcanoes got featured in the new documentary NATURE by Yann Arthus-Bertrand - The filmmaker who changed my perspective on the beauty of nature and inspired me to document it.
I've also partnered up with YellowKorner in an effort to bring all these remote places I shoot closer to the people, so now four of my most famous prints are available in their 77 galleries worldwide. GO CHECK IT!
And this summer the cano went off again, as I was driving my mum right past it towards the airport. Of course I had my cameras in my back pocket to document it.

This winter had a little less snow than ever before, which was alarming but still manageable. A few good ski projects, and gearing up for bigger ones.

This was also the first year in ages that I didn't make it over to Greenland for any projects. But instead, it made room for a massive one coming up. And Icelandic ice did a good job in the meantime.

Still, this year was mostly about being a very present dad. Learning how to navigate the world in slow motion and figuring out how to spot art in the normal. And teaching her all I know.

It's always a privilege to be able to slow things down for a while. But now that I've done that, it's time to light up this next year. Starting with a project for DJI and one for Nikon. Then all the rest. All the way into world peace and domination.
So thank you, everyone, who's been part of this, who I've got to work alongside this year and in the past, for everyone supporting the journey, and who bought prints from the new 2025 collection.
I hope to see you all again in the next one!
