The Story
I’ve been trying to nail this shot since 2017. Having mastered the technique of taking off and landing drones from moving boats, the whales are always gone by the time the camera is up. Greenland never stops delivering though. As the wind stopped for just a few minutes, the fjord going silent with only a camera shutter clicking away and echoing between the towering mountains, and not a human in any direction for days, two sperm whales popped up next to our sailboat just in time for this shot to come together, before the whales disappeared into the abyss to never be seen again.
