We have survived the darkest part of the winter. The auroras are fading and the stars on the northern side of the horizon are already gone. They say it’s the first day of summer in Iceland, but that’s only because they don’t know what summer is here. It’s never really been a real thing. But it’s at least becoming not winter. Which means the midnight sun is just beyond the horizon.
 
Sometimes I should add some more colour to my photography. Sometimes people ask me to. This time, I wanted to see if it would actually work and if people would like it. I try to stay away from sunrises and sunsets. In favour of the dark storms and extreme weathers that I think brings more emption out of these landscapes. But maybe it’s because I’m becoming a dad, my photography is turning into dad photography too. I even almost brought out the tripod for this one. But I didn’t. I was busy showing settings for my photo group on this 12-day tour across the highlands to focus on my own shots. So I quickly shot this one from the hip. We had been shooting the sunset until 1 am, and since sunrise was only two hours later, I drove them out here to fight our way through that too. It was romantic. Hands were almost held. Tears were almost shed. The night was almost remembered. But at least there’s this photo to remind us for when it is forgotten.
